At our monthly meeting last night, the PJS Anti-Racism Task Force discussed the terrible surge in anti-Asian violence and discrimination as well as the ongoing struggle for people of color in our local community and around the country. Today, we feel compelled to act on the first tenet of our Task Force mission statement, which is to be a practical, supportive body for students, parents, staff and faculty that works to foster a safe, inclusive community celebrating all races and ethnic backgrounds while purposefully denouncing racism. At Princeton Junior School, we embrace families from every background because it makes our community stronger. We are committed to taking action that will root out pervasive hate and discrimination. We understand that an attack on one group is an attack on everyone, and agree that we must unite against racism once and for all.
Anti-Racism Task Force
Mission Statement
The goal of the PJS Anti-Racism Task Force is to be a practical, supportive body for students, parents, staff and faculty that works to foster a safe, inclusive community celebrating all races and ethnic backgrounds while purposefully denouncing racism. We are committed to accelerating and strengthening our diverse learning experiences for the PJS community by gaining insight and elevated self-awareness into the way we speak, think, and learn about racism. By recommending resources and tools to the school, the task force will help to honestly address our nation’s history of racism while advocating for equality and change. We endeavor to instill in all PJS students and families the importance of social justice, cultural humility and the crucial understanding that anti-racism is everyone’s work.
