PJS Celebrates Chinese New Year

On Friday, February 9th, Princeton Junior School students celebrated the Chinese New Year.  The festivities began with an All School Gathering led by Hongling and Ivy, parents of children in the 2nd/3rd mixed-age class.  Highlights included an informational presentation, a mini dragon dance and a musical parade around the Commons.  Children stomped on bubble wrap to simulate the bang of firecrackers to frighten away monsters and evil spirits for the coming months.

The celebration continued throughout the day with activities including Year of the Dog origami, making a rotating paper drum, creating the Chinese character for spring, and even learning how to make Chinese dumplings.

Thank you so much to Hongling and Ivy for sharing the Chinese New Year and leading us in a school wide celebration.
