The Princeton area is rich with resources. At PJS we are constantly finding ways to deepen our students' learning experiences and further our mission by cultivating relationships and collaborating with groups outside our school.
LEVEL UP VILLAGE (LUV)
Level Up Village's mission is to globalize the classroom and facilitate seamless collaboration between students from around the world via pioneering Global STEAM (STEM + Arts) enrichment courses. Through our partnership with Level Up Village, Princeton Junior School students have explored relevant issues such as the global water crisis alongside peers from other countries through video messages and Skype.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
Glitter Lemonade is a non profit foundation that integrates philanthropy and child-driven community service, empowering children to realize their positive impact on society. As members of the PJS Glitter Lemonade Club, our students identify and discuss local and global issues that are important to them. With the guidance and support of club leaders and teachers, PJS students learn how to plan and implement meaningful hands-on projects that positively affect local and global communities. Our partnership with Glitter Lemonade helps us to embed philanthropy and social responsibility within our curriculum in significant and relevant ways, and students see the impact of their collaborative efforts.
While PJS has a long history of hosting student teachers from Rider University, in 2012, the two schools began working toward the implementation of a lab school model. As a lab school, PJS works in conjunction with Rider to train new teachers and assist in educational research. Rider provides academic resources and professional development opportunities for PJS teachers, grounding teaching in credible research, sound educational theories and best practices. This model benefits the interns and student teachers, PJS faculty, the curriculum, and most importantly, our students.
PJS is pleased to offer the internationally recognized music program, Music Together , to students enrolled in our Early Childhood Program. Music Together is based on the understanding that all children are musical and can achieve basic music competence with the participation and modeling of parents and caregivers in a playful, developmentally appropriate, musically rich environment.
